INTRODUCTION TO THE ASSESSMENT OF OVERSEAS QUALIFICATIONS:

 Radiography, Radiation Therapy and Ultrasound qualifications obtained outside Australia are not immediately accepted and recognised in Australia. The Australian Institute of Radiography (AIR) assesses qualifications obtained outside Australia in Radiography, Radiation Therapy and Ultrasound only.  

 This section of the AIR website outlines the processes relating to recognition of overseas qualifications in these three disciplines. You are instructed to read the Information Section before completing the Application Form to ensure that you apply through the correct process.

OVERVIEW:

The AIR’s Overseas Qualifications Assessment Panel assesses each application and recommends or declines recognition of the applicant’s qualifications. Recognition is in the form of:

• a Statement of Accreditation in Diagnostic Radiography or
• a Statement of Accreditation in Radiation Therapy or
• a Certificate of Recognition in Ultrasound.

The AIR does not assess qualifications in:

• Nuclear Medicine,
• Medical Physics or
• Industrial (Non–Destructive Testing) Radiography.

EXCEPTION TO ASSESSMENT BY THE OVERSEAS QUALIFICATIONS ASSESSMENT PANEL:

Graduates who completed a Degree Program Accredited by the AIR (Accredited Courses) and who fulfil the criteria as stated on the relevant Application Form may apply for a Statement of Accreditation.
